In the early 1990's when I first took up photography, the club studio was really the only place that I had time to go to to take pictures, due to work commitments.

I always say to people if you want to get involved in photography a studio is a good place to start. It enabled me to go out every week to take pictures, learn to develop film and gave me new images that I could print in the darkroom and learn by my mistakes.

Because of this portrait work has always been very close to my heart, even today if I see a good face I cannot resist the temptation.

This months front cover image was taken in Scotland earlier this year, and I suppose the experience gained in your formative years will always keep you in good stead for the future.
